[Pro] auto-center page without resizing?

I have a new site that will probably become the landing page or the intro page, as the site grows. It has a beautiful logo that is about 850 pixels wide that dominates the page. All this page is at this point is this logo and one line of small text across the bottom. The logo and the line of text are center aligned with each other and grouped. But what I have not been able to figure out is how to have the pair of them always be centered in a browser window no matter how wide it is. I am assuming that most browser windows today are going to be wide enough. But some will be so wide that this will be way over to the left more than necessary. Isn’t there a way to have it always render in the center of the window? I do not want it to resize.
If I build it into the background then aren’t I really limited in my editing of the text? I don’t think I want to do that.

I just installed the “Fit Page to Screen 2” action. That’s kind of cool. It’s default function is to force the window to resize to the size of the display. My site is now doing that. It also says on the Actions page that you can specify a size that it will resize the window to. I can’t find any settings in this action. It’s just there and it works in the default way.

That would be cool if I could have my content centered without fail.

Hi Michael,

Try this to see if it works:

  1. With the Actions Window open (Menu/Window/Actions), click on an empty area of the page where the action has been installed.

  2. Select the Fit to Page tab in the Actions Window

  3. Deselect the Fit to Screen check box

  4. Enter your page and x, y dimensions in the now active boxes.

Good luck,

Bryan

Bryan,

Thanks for pointing me to that place to enter those values. Are the x and y values the distance in pixels from the edge of the window to the center of the object/image that I want centered?
I am entering the distance from the left edge to center of the image as X and the distance from the top edge to the center as Y, just as a guess.

Bryan,

Even though the check box is deselected, the “Fit to Screen 2” Action is still expanding the browser window to the size of the display, no matter what values I have in the fields.

Bryan,

Were you able to see anything that illuminated this problem from my posting the link?

Hi Michael,

I replied to your direct email off-line. A summary of the email for others is to troubleshoot by:

  1. set the page alignment to centre.
  2. create multiple pages with the original setting, then change one parameter in the Fit to Page 2 action at a time and then analyze the results.
