I just discovered that Exhibeo autosaves things when you shut it down. While that may be okay for some people, I don’t like it because it’s not how Mac OS X apps typically function.
I frequently close document that I don’t intend to save because I know I’ll be alerted with a warning box that allows me to either cancel and save or discard my changes. I’m so used to this common functionality that it’s become a habit.
In the next update, please add a warning dialog offering to cancel the close or discard your changes, like every other Apple app. Thanks!

BTW, even Freeway Pro operates that way.

Kelly, I think what you are seeing is normal behavior for Mac OS… at least after updating to Lion that is how Apple apps behaved (Pages, Numbers, TextEdit, Preview, etc, etc.) I don’t care for it, it’s bad UI design. Saving is now “save a version” which allows you to resurrect a previous saved iteration - a great feature for .1% of my work.
What I do with Exhibeo in your case is to make sure that I “save” each time I am happy with an iterative change. Before quitting the app, you can then revert to the last version and thus preserve it.

There’s a setting in Mountain Lion (and I would guess 10.9 as well) to switch to pre-Lion behaviour:
