Are you on Lion? Look in the Time Machine pane of the System Preferences, and un-check the option to “Lock documents [pull-down] after last edit”, in the Options sub-pane. I am not convinced that this is your issue, but it is a good idea to do anyway, especially if you have documents you work on sporadically.

Thanks Walter - yes, Lion - I don’t know if it was the permissions repair or unchecking Lock Documents - but the issue cleared up after doing both and restarting.
Regardless, unchecking Lock Documents is indeed a good idea for many projects I come back to occasionally both in Freeway and other programs as well.
