Here’s something that’s definitely, “Off Topic.” I’m trying to come up with some creative ways that friends and family can remember the people they’ve lost on Valentine’s Day.

This is my historian side speaking (when I’m not building websites I’m researching and reenacting the lives of americans during the mid-nineteeth century), but what about taking a photograph of the memorial or tombstone and uploading it to http://findagrave.com?
You could build an album of photographs of the family member doing things they enjoyed.
This might not be applicable for all people, but if you have any letters from the person, transcribing them can be a great family project. My family and I have been working on transcribing a series of 350 letters written by an ancestor to his wife during his service in the Civil War, and it have been both very educational and enjoyable for all involved.

Yeah, I agree. At least it’s still usable. I usually despise it when data-driven websites get the flat/modern treatment. Too often, it comes at the cost of usability as they tend to strip out much of the visual hierarchy when they do get redesigned. I’d much rather have a visually dense data-driven website than one which is beautiful but challenging to use.
Wikipedia is a great example of a well-designed data-driven website. Sure, it’s not “beautiful”, but it’s easy to use and conveys information very efficiently.
