I appreciate that, generally, the purpose of the Breakpoint action has been superceded by the responsiveness for inline layouts in FW7… but, given that I have an old layer-based site that would be more trouble than it’s worth to make truly responsive, I wanted to use the Breakpoint action pointing to specific 320, 480 and 568px-wide ‘mini-site’ pages.
However, I couldn’t get it to work. Initially, I thought that was because the action wasn’t working with the media queries etc in FW7, so I tried it in FW6 too and got the same result:
Thanks, David. Yes, that background image is a bit of a beast - have got it down to 2mb… still too large, though, ideally. I saved for web in Photoshop - is there a better way of doing it?
As for the URLs, I don’t quite understand - the Action asks for the pages on a dropdown, and - as I would with the Mobile Redirect (which has always worked) - I’ve selected the relevant size/page.
There is an easier app for it. Open your file in Preview - do a File>Save As. In the Dialogue box that opens there are Options for Format and a Quality Slider. For a BG image you can screw the quality right down and underneath you will get an idea of the finished file size.
For a BG image of those dimensions you should be able to get it less than 200k and still look fine.

And also gives you option to use an External URL ie http… - just saying it might be worth trying while it is on a sub domain.
