Every time my designer (who happens to be my girlfriend) designs bullet lists, I think she’s determined to kill me.
Here’s the latest: I have a question and answer type list. The question is bulletted and one style, the answer is indented with no bullet and another style and color.
How can I make this work? I guess I can’t use more than one style of bulleted text in one html box?
Hi Bob,
Show us what you want it to look like and I’m sure someone (maybe even me) will get back to you with an answer (or an example) soon enough.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Bob,
The trick with a list like this is to use shift-return at the end of the line. This will add in a line break rather create a new list item which allows you to group text together in the same bullet.
Style the list as a regular black text with round bullet list and then add a new style just for the questions which are slightly larger and in another colour.
The only oddities in the file are the extended styles on the .list style to make the bulleted list full width rather than the default list indent and the styles on the main heading (Step 1) to remove the default bold font weight from the heading and adjust the default padding.
I hope it makes some sort of sense. If not be sure to get back in touch.
Regards,
Tim.

Here’s a link to a PDF of the page I’m trying to create.
Hi Bob,
In my example the default list styling takes on its style from the body style. This defines the text as 14px Trebuchet black. The questions have a separate style applied to them (cunningly called
‘question’) that wraps the text in a span element and styles the text in 16px bold blue (it keeps the font style from the parent body style).
Style the list first and then go back and style the questions afterwards. If you get stuck let me know and I’ll see if I can break this down into a set of steps for you.

Tim.

Not working for me for some reason, Tim. Looks dead easy, but when I use the shift-return, both lines get styled the same.
You might want to try styling this as a nested list. Select each answer and indent it in another level from the outer questions in the List segment of the Inspector. Once you’ve done that, you can create a set of styles that target only the indented sub-lists and give them the text and color style that you prefer.
If Freeway supported it, this would be an ideal application of the ‘definition list’ HTML tag. This is an under-used tag that is purpose-made for this sort of thing:
Just a note to say thank you to those who contributed to this thread as it was very helpful. Tim your example and sample file was a godsend. I understand lists as it relates to markup and styling, just had a hard time getting my head around doing it in Freeway.
