[Pro] Calendar and blog

Hi all
I have a client who wants a blog and an editable calendar.

I have an aversion to wordpress! and was looking at Pulse. It looks like they have a nice clean looking calendar and blog and looks easy enough for me to implement on FW

Any thoughts on this direction? Thx

Perch also has a customizable calendar plug-in though I’m sure it’s more work to setup than Pulse.

Hi all I have a client who wants a blog and an editable calendar.

Haven’t used any calendar feature in Pulse but the Blog is easy to set up and even my technophobic photographer friend finds it easy to update.

Hi Carla,

The calendar in Pulse is really a pre designed table, so you have to remake each month, good if a little work. Their blog is however excellent as it now has a search facility, better than tags that hardly anyone uses etc. in my view.
You could look at integrating very easily Googles calendar as an option, does everything you might need.

The client will have to reconfigure the ‘events’ calendar themselves so if the first of the month for August falls on a Thursday then they will have to remake it so the following month (September) the first falls on a Sunday.
see demo: porkbun.com | parked domain

I’m sure if they find an easy and better method in the future Mark at Pulse will integrate it as he has done with the blog and gallery. Meanwhile…(

There are of course other scripts for calendars out their ie. : http://www.phpjabbers.com/php-scripts.php but another cost and also time teaching client.

Hi Carla

I’ve been using this calendar on this site for years Loading...

It’s free and no adverts. Have a look at http://www.calendars.net

If you can get into Pulse, I think it would do the job.

Regards

Lee

Hi Carla,
I manually added this calendar system to a client’s Pulse site a while ago;

Pulse is quite easy to hack to add extra features like this to the admin panel. You can see the extra calendar icon here in this screen shot;

Clicking on the link automatically logs her into the calendar system allowing her to add, edit and delete calendar events easily.
Regards,
Tim.
