[Pro] can scriptylightbox and multiple page pdf

Hi Walter,

I was wondering if your scriptylightbox action has the capability to open/show a multiple page pdf. If this is not possible, is there a way to accomplish this and how?

Any suggestions or directions are greatly appreciated, thanks.

You can very easily open a new window with a PDF in it using the Link
to PDF Actions that come with Freeway. It’s highly variable (browser-
wise) whether you can embed a PDF within an HTML box. The browser will
either hand off the PDF to a helper application, or use a plug-in to
handle the PDF as a full-window element, but I haven’t had much luck
using a PDF as an element within an HTML page.

Since SL creates a floating DIV to hold the content you want to show,
I don’t think you could wedge a PDF in there and have any sort of a
page to show afterward. If SL was working in its “foreign content”
mode, whereby it creates an iframe for the content, then sure, it
might actually work. But that only works if the PDF content is on a
completely different server, at a different domain than your own.
Otherwise SL defaults to using a DIV, and expects to load a fragment
of HTML or an image into that DIV.

Thanks Walter for your super fast response.

I guess that makes a no answer, however what if I make a series of images instead of pdf? can your SL action handle it. I’ve seem some lightbox that show other images with next/prev arrows on the sides.

thanks again for sharing your vast knowledge

This one, sadly, does not do that. At some point I hope to rewrite
this Action to do that.

I don’t know if this is what you want but I use this technique in an
accordion to great effect.

Just watch out on this Adobe thing, because it relies on Flash, in addition for having all your content on their server.

Hi Walter,

I was reading some older posts and found one where you mention a guy who uses FlashPaper. Have you tried it? If you are, how would you go about the integration with freeway? or maybe the application is to old and obsolete now.

Your knowledge is greatly appreciated, thank you

regards.

FlashPaper came with some version of Flash that I got in a CSn bundle,
I forget which one. I haven’t kept up with Flash or Dreamweaver when I
have upgraded Creative Studio, though. I don’t have it installed on my
current computer. I never used it myself.
