[Pro] cant see some actions

Hello. I’ve received the software, installed and upgraded to Freeway 5.5 Pro 5.6.1, that is the latest one. After that, when Im trying with the program, learning how it works… I try some actions from the actionsforge.com page. Some of them have been fine installed (Password protected URL and Youtube Pro) but I cant find the others in the program. They appears in the actions folder in my Mac, and if I reinstall it says that its duplicated, but I cant find them in the list inside Freeway program. This actions are: Extra Resources, PHP feedback form and SmoothScroll. At the moment these are the actions Ive tried with, But i’ll keep on.

Does anyone know where could be the actions?

Thank you. Rakeljuice

All Actions are contextual – they only appear in the menu if you have
the element they apply to selected. For example, page Actions will
appear in the Page / Page Actions menu, but you will only see the
interface for a Page Action when the page itself is selected (that is,
nothing on the page is selected).

Similarly, Item Actions like PHP Feedback Form will be listed in the
Item / Actions menu, but will only be available when you have the
correct type of element selected on the page. For PHPFF, this can be
any HTML element, although a Table is the most logical element to use,
since it will help you organize your form fields and their labels in
the most easy to understand way. Once you have applied an Item Action
to a page element, you will see its interface in the Actions palette
only while that element is selected in the page layout.

The last place to look for Actions is the Action tool in the toolbar
or toolbox. This tool has an Action cog on it, and it’s a drawing tool
– you draw a rectangle on the page, which will become either a
floating layer or a table cell in the master layout table, depending
on your current HTML level and other application settings.

Not all Actions use this methodology – most are either applied to the
page or to individual elements on the page as noted earlier. Any
Action you find in this last list can also be added to the page by
either having the page selected or having a text cursor inside an HTML
element, and choosing Insert / Action Item from the main menu. When
you do that, you will see a 100px square box in the middle of your
page, decorated with a little cog. Clicking that item will focus it in
the Actions palette where you can set any of its properties.

Thanks, but because of my english I cant understand something you said. Ill try with an example. I want to use PHPFF, so I draw a table with input text, button, etc, and selected the table, but the action is not in the list on the tool bar, toll menu, and anywhere i could find. Another example, I make a text with scroll so I think SmoothScroll could be applied to it, but the action is nowhere…

I have my actions palette opened, and it works with the prebuilt actions.

Select your table with the mouse cursor, and when you do, make sure
that the 8 “handles” are showing – one on each corner and one on each
side. This means that you have selected the entire table, rather than
one of the cells inside it. Now from the main menu at the top of the
screen, choose Item / Actions and you should see PHP Feedback Form in
that list.

PHPFF action can be applied as a Page action OR as an Item action.

So with nothing selected on the Page>Page Actions

Also to apply it to a table select the whole table (not just a row) and Item>Actions>PHPFF action

But do NOT do both.

I make text with a scroll…

Smooth Scroll works when scrolling to an anchor on a page. So you can apply it as a Page action and every anchor that you link to will have the Smooth Scroll effect.

Hi Walter,

Forgive me, but I’m new to Freeway. I’m trying to use your ReadFeed action, and I’m having the same problem. I cannot see the action when I create an html item (I have the action window open, and it is not an available option when I click the + button)

Can you help me with this?

Hi again, i posted too soon, and ended up answering my own question (a more appropriate question now would be “how do I delete stupid forum posts?”).

Disregard my stupidity, but find a different question from me in a new thread…

Well, since this is a mailing list, you can’t really delete any post. I think everyone would love to un-send e-mail from time to time (particularly politicians), but seriously, don’t worry about it. As to your question, Freeway Actions are contextual – some apply to particular types of elements, some apply only to particular HTML level pages, etc., and they are hidden in the lists unless your current cursor selection or page level is appropriate.
