[Pro] Can't specify font for bullets

The site I have built at:

seems to be getting a bit ‘buggy’. At the weekend, after uploading two new pages, I ended up losing first one, then two of my navigation rollover buttons and couldn’t retrieve them. Fortunately I was able to restore the site from Time Machine, but I lost the the two pages I had created.

To remedy the problems I have decided to streamline the site and rebuild it, but now I have run into another difficulty. A number of my pages have bulleted lists, which won’t display in the correct font/style.

The lists are defined as a style (Trebuchet, 16 point grey) and appear in this style in the Freeway screen, but when I preview them in any browser, or upload them, they appear in Times, 14 point, black. This happens whether I apply the style or create the list manually each time.

With this and the other problems I’m beginning to wonder if I might need to reinstall the software from scratch.

Any suggestions

Hi jenny I see them as grey and in trebuchet plus I looked at your css and it looks like it’s inheriting the colour and font type from your body style which is Trebuchet and the colour grey so that fine or should be.
Have you tried clearing you cache from your browsers?

Hi Max

The site that is up at the moment is the one I restored from Time Machine at the weekend. It looks okay now, but I’ve had so many problems with it over the last couple of weeks that I’m afraid to touch it again.

The problem I’m having is in the Freeway file where I’m rebuilding the site. I haven’t actually published it yet.

In answer to your question, yes, I have reset both browsers (Safari and Firefox) and cleared the caches before previewing.

I have tried copying and pasting the bulleted lists from the original file. This didn’t work.

I have also tried recreating the new file from scratch three times, and each time have had the exact same problem.

Obviously it worked the first time as the evidence is online, but now I just seem to be hitting a brick wall and I can’t understand why.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Jenny,

I have a problem with Safari not cooperating with changes in styles when the other browsers see them, but it sound like your up on that. Perhaps the text was somehow changed to graphic…?

About the lists, don’t try highlighting and copying, go to the menu in site view, select the boxes containing the list and copy them. You can then paste them to the page folder you want them in and most times I have had them drop into the same place as the previous page.

I hope that was the problem in question.

I doubt this has anything to do with our issues but for kicks check out the web fonts action.

Hi Frank

Thanks for your advice. I’ve just tried pasting the whole box from the old site into the new site and it’s still showing in the browsers as Times 14 point black.

In the Freeway screen, inspector and main menu the font is showing as Trebuchet, 16 point, grey, which is what it should be.

If it’s any help: in this Freeway file Times 14 point black seems to be the default font i.e. if you go to Style in the main menu and click Remove styling it reverts back to this font.

However, in my original file - the one that is online - when you click Remove style it stays as Trebuchet 16 point grey as though this is the default font.

So is there any way I can make Trebuchet 16 point grey the default font in the new file?

Thanks for helping

I think I’ve just answered my own question here.

I searched the forum for ‘default font’ and learnt that by adding a body tag into my styles pallet I can set Trebuchet 16 point grey as my default font.

Problem solved! The fonts are now showing correctly in the browsers.

Thanks to Max and Frank for your help
