[Pro] Carousel 2 woes

Hiya,

I am trying to get a simple carousel 2 working. It’d like the four headings to be able to select the appropriate set of links. I have added the Carousel 2 Tab to the links, added the Carousel 2 action the main html box and the Carousel 2 pane action the the other (positioned above the page in on the pasteboard). For the life of me I can’t see what’s going wrong. I’m sure it’s something simple  I’m using the version 2 action with Freeway 6.

Kind regards

Nigel

Sorted…

I downloaded the latest version of Carousel and it’s working fine!

Thanks,

Nigel.

OK,

Maybe my use of the word ‘working’ was a little optimistic  The carousel works but none of the links within them are working. It looks like the carousel is rendering the html as a graphic? I can’t select any of the text. I have this set up on another site made with FP5.5 and the text is selectable and the links are working.

Thanks again,

Nigel.

The issue is layering. The Carousel elements are behind a box with the id of pagecontainer. Any clicks are being absorbed by this element, and not allowed through to the links below them. Select your primary carousel element (the one you applied Carousel 2 to) and choose Item / Bring to Front from the main menu. Then publish again and see if the links work.

The issue is layering.

Walter beat me to it.

Do you realise how difficult it is to diagnose on an iPhone.

One of the Browsers that I use that gives you a ‘view source’ option is Atomic Web - very useful!

The other thing that is an issue is your footer graphic that hides a bunch of the links in the first section.

Sending to back isnt going to help as the black text will be unreadable over the top of the footer.

Hi,

I was just about to post about this. My usual structure is to have an html container that has a ‘header’ html box with content and also a ‘footer’ html with content and everything else I place in a ‘body’ html holder.

This structure doesn’t work on this page. I can change the layer so that the footer is in the correct place but the rollovers don’t work as I assume the text in now behind the photo in the footer html box. What I don’t understand is when I move the placing of the footer the rollover works but the relative position of the rollovers to the html footer box is still the same? I’ve move the footer in all positions within the page structure and I can’t get it at the bottom with the rollovers working??

Thanks

Nigel.

Doesn’t display correctly for me unless I change the margin-top on the Footer to 460px

But not sure why you have a margin on it anyway.

But then I see that the Carousel has width:940px; height:NaNpx; - not sure why that is!

The object that you apply Carousel to must have a defined height, you cannot let it have a flexy-height.

Hi,

I’m not sure what you mean by margin. The only margin setting I know is with inline placement?

Thanks,

Nigel.

Hi Walter,

As far as I can see in the measurements panel the height is set to ‘fixed’ and the height is set to 418 pixels?

Thanks,

Nigel.

How did you construct this page?

Did you just ‘draw’ html elements or click inside and insert them - are you using the RPL action?

Hiya,

It was the RPL action! Removing the action from the page corrects things.

Thanks,

Nigel.

Then you should be able to apply Remove from RPL to the main Carousel container and re-enable RPL on the page. Please try that and let me know if it works. If it does, I should be able to add the Remove from RPL code to my Action so you won’t need to do this in the future.

Hi,

To get it working I have used the remove RPL action on the footer. I had already applied the action the carousel panes (but not the main carousel). If I apply it to the main carousel and not the panes, the carousel doesn’t work.

Thanks,

Nigel.
