[Pro] Carousel action creates huge page width????

I have used the carousel action a dozen times and have never had this issue.
http://bethwittig.com/reviews.html
The page width is enormous and the scrolling toolbar is at the bottom, but nothing else is on the page.

When I delete the carousel action, it returns to normal. When I apply it, the toolbar returns. Does anyone have a solution to this?

THANK YOU!

Make sure that you have done the following – I’ve made this mistake
before:

The element that is located on your page where you want the Carousel
effect to appear has the Carousel (not Carousel Pane) Action applied
to it.

All the other elements that you want to have appear within the
Carousel have the Carousel Pane Action applied to them, and the name
of the first element (with Carousel applied) appears within the Target
picker. Double-check this last part.

This should just work, as long as these requirements are met. If it
still doesn’t, please post a link to the failing page and I’ll see if
I can diagnose it from the rendered HTML and JavaScript.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for the speedy reply. The carousel is working fine. The only problem is the scrollbar at the bottom is unnecessary. I checked what you instucted, and as far as I can tell, I’ve set it up correctly. Here’s the link.

  1. Check to be sure you have the absolute latest version of the Action
installed. If you downloaded it in the last month or so, you should be
fine. I see you’re using the Freeway 5.5 trial version, so that
    probably is true.

  2. Try zooming out to 10 or 20% in Freeway (picker is in the lower-
left corner of the document window) and the select all (Command A) and
see if any handles light up far off in the corners of the screen. It
appears as though your page is much wider than it should be, and the
Action deletes all of the Panes from the page when it runs, so I don’t
think that’s the issue here. I am proposing that there is some element
off in the weeds that doesn’t have a Pane Action applied to it, and
that element is what is forcing the page width.

No luck with that either. I’ve also gone through the item page list and there aren’t any hidden items I missed. When I delete the main carousel action (not the item, just the action) it returns to normal. Then when I add the action back on, the page width changes back to enormous. Like I said, I have never had this problem before with this action. I am thinking about just rebuilding the page. Any last words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Your carousel element is somehow being assigned a width of 65925px,
and clearly that’s the issue here. Please go to ActionsForge and
download the Action again.

In Finder, go into your home folder, then open Library/Application
Support/Freeway 5/Actions/General. Inside there, remove anything with
the word Protaculous in its name. Then decompress the Zip you
downloaded from the Forge and move Protaculous.fwactionb into the
General folder.

Back in your document, remove ALL instances of Carousel [anything]
from all elements on ALL pages, and publish once. Now go back through
and re-build the effect by applying the individual Actions.

This last step is critical because Freeway will hang on to deleted
Actions quite tenaciously, just as a guard against you sending a
working document to someone who doesn’t have those Actions installed.
Freeway does an excellent job with this on any Action that doesn’t use
internal library files. Unfortunately, Protaculous is one of those
Actions that requires a lot of internal support files, so Freeway will
make scrambled eggs out of the resulting document.

I went through all those steps…twice. No luck.

I opened a new file and created a test carousel. It worked normally.

When I delete the carousel action on the page in question, the page returns to the normal size. Any idea why re-downloading it and applying it won’t work? Or how to proceed?

Make sure that all of the elements have their width set in pixels, and are positioned with a left offset. That’s the only thing I can think of without looking at the document.

I got it fixed. No idea how. I deleted one of the objects and rebuilt it. Blah blah. The important thing is it is fixed and probably won’t happen again since I have used it a bunch and it hasn’t happened before.

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!
