[Pro] Carousel and HTML5 Video

Are there any known compatibility issues with the HTML5 Video Action and the Carousel Action? I have four .mp4 videos that I am showing in an HTML layer item. The carousel action worked splendidly until I applied the HTML5 action for the purpose of cutting down file size and ensuring playability over more platforms.

If this should work, I will continue to play with it, but if it is known that they do not work together, I’d love to know so I don’t spin my wheels trying to make it work.

Many thanks,

Aaron

Can you post a link to the page where it doesn’t work? As far as I know, there’s nothing that the two would trip over in each other, but without seeing it in action (so to speak) I can’t say. Did you try the Sublime Video or VideoJS Actions as a replacement for the HTML5 Video Action? Both of those use a technique that I have tried to standardize to convert the entire page into HTML5 – valid, no less. Carousel shouldn’t have any issue with it either way. The only thing that you might get tripped up on is that using CSS to hide video (or other plug-in content) can be chancy in some browsers – the plug-in can continue to play the video when the player should be hidden. One way out of that problem is to use the ScriptyLightbox2 as a player for your video, and that way you will only be animating the thumbnail static image in and out of view, not the video.
