I often have trouble getting the carousel to work. It seems to want to work or not. This page uses the carousel action, all I did was copy the html box that is the target and amend the contents and add the carousel pane action. Clicking on the decade tabs should work the carousel.
Also, I often get pages that move slightly left and right when you click through the pages. All the page widths are set the same and all are set to centre align. Any ideas why they jump about?
Thank you for taking a look. I can’t see an item5 with a left margin of 45? Is is on any particular page? Presumably it is on the two pages that shift about?
I have sorted out the carousel issue by removing it from relative page layout. Is this a common prblem?
If you change from Site view to Page view at the top of the LH sidebar in FW enochpowellarchive.html (the pic below is not of your actual page)
You will then see a list of all the items on your page. Select item5 in the sidebar and it will be selected on the FW page.
Check the settings in the Inspector for that margin left 45px
If you cannot see it it may be because of RPL again - cant really tell without seeing your FW doc.
And yes it is not unusual to have to apply the Remove from RPL action to certain things - especially something like carousel which actually removes items from the page as part of its construction process.
Thanks David. I do usually work page view, and there are a couple of item5’s but not on the pages that seem to shift and they don’t have a margin setting of 45. What should I be looking out for in my web pages that course this? I have another site that I need to upload that’s even worse
When i view it, the bio page and the further info page shift only??? Also, the content of the further info page is missing??? It previews fin and every thing is set to publish in the inspector.
The page you mentioned does have the RPL action. item5 is actually the black background nad both left and right margins are set to 5 pixels - the same for this item on all pages.
I dont know how recently you have uploaded any changes you have made but if I start at the Home page and then go Biography, Centenary then Further Info there is no shift.
It is only when I go to Speeches that I get it.
BTW The Title of the Centenary page has a few Typos in it

Thanks again
nige.
Up to my experience, there is only one common problem that occurs with RPL:
The people (including me) in fact do not know what RPL is doing at all. If RPL does what I call “emulate a full inline scenario” it will more or less set undefined heights and gets therefore the chance to set divs in relation to each other.
But a Carousel needs defined values in width and height of their basic box (and their panes as well) for to work.
So both ideas do not play very well together and by removing RPL you got the defined height back - and a working Carousel.
The jumping pages might occur from misplaced items - no doubt, but in your case I would tend to say:
Whenever browser’s scrollbar appears, the page is slightly moved to the left - if a page is short enough and therefore no need to scroll, the bar disappears and the needed gap as well - so it jumps back.
There is basically nothing you could do to avoid this (sure there is, but nothing I would further mind about).
Thanks again for all the help. I have renamed item5 to Container (on all pages), and removed it from RPL, and it does not seem to jump about. The only page that does is the Bio page it’s position is:
In freeway this has a left and right margin of 5 pixels, so this looks ok? I have removed Container from RPL on all pages now
