[Pro] cart submit button doesn't work now

I have been using freeway pro for a few years now. I am a somewhat basic user. I am not very code savvy hence the reason I love freeway pro. Ever since I updated to 6 my cart submit buttons don’t work. I am using the mals commerce suite. I use a regular submit graphic button within a mals commerce suite cart form. It has always worked until I upgraded to freeway pro 6. Any solutions. As of right now my online store is dead due to no one is able to order. Please help, this is a critical issue I am having. The link is for just one of many pages that have this issue. Thank you

The submit button (indeed, almost none of your form elements) is not inside your form – it’s outside of it, and a submit button will only have effect if it is inside a form.

Try making your form inside a table, and apply any Action you’re using to set up the cart form to the table itself.

Well that’s the issue. My forms were initially setup with everything created inside the form. Now ever since the upgrade its like it booted the submit button outside of my form. Could this have happened? I have had this site working for 3 years now. haven’t changed anything. ever since the upgrade I have this problem. Thank you for your response.

It’s not just the submit button – every element in your form except the hidden elements that set up the cart are outside the bounds of the form. What Action are you using to set up the cart? Is it the Freeway Shop, or Tim Plumb’s “pro” Actions? Which element on your page did you apply it to? Did you also apply the Relative Page Layout (RPL) Action to this page?

I am using tim plumbs pro actions. Been using them without a hitch for 3 years. I have the mals ecom form setup action applied to a outside box which contains all my elements inside the form. The there elements within the form that have a pro action attached to it. I then use a normal submit button to send the info to mals ecom shopping cart. Its always worked thats why i am confused.

Click once on the outside element, then click the disclosure triangle next to your page name in the left sidebar. You should see that element highlighted in the list of elements on the page. Now click on another element that’s supposed to be “inside” the form. If that item isn’t indented under the main element that you initially selected, drag its name in the list until it is under and to the left of the main form element’s name. You’ll know you have things correct if the name of the main element turns bold and highlights. Repeat for every other element in your form. When you’re done, you’ll see something like this:

*mainFormElement
	inputOne
	inputTwo
	inputThree
	submitImage

The asterisk there is meant to symbolize the Action badge that will be applied to your main form element, since you will have applied the Action to it. Other inputs may also have that badge, as they are different types of Action-ized code.

Unless you see this sort of nesting in your sidebar, your form is not actually going to be self-contained.

No, I was guessing that RPL had ripped your form apart. Look at the last message I sent to you. Get your form together (literally) and this problem should go away. Just having one thing above another does not nest it. Only by setting up the hierarchy in the left column can you truly contain one element inside another.

Hi Adam,
Apologies for getting in late on the thread. By the looks of the code on your page all of the form elements are set as layers. This generally isn’t an issue with a regular Freeway-generated form as the application will wrap the entire page in a form item. Freeway writes layered items to the page at the very end of the code so any layered form items will always be outside of the form you are creating. Make sure that the form fields are direct children of the Mals Form Setup elements (and not layers) and you should be set.

What I’m confused about is how your page ever worked in the first place as those form items need to be children of the form setup areas.
If you get stuck shoot me an email using the form on the FreewayActions.com site and I’ll help you out.
Regards,
Tim.

Shot you an email Tim. I got half the form to work, but none of the other options in the form work, meaning they won’t show up in the cart. Let me know if you didn’t get my email.

Just as updated information Dave, when i click on the mals form that I created all the other elements within the form highlight in grey, so I would assume that would mean that the elements are within the form would it not?

is there a way I could send you a picture of how my site looks within freeway.

If you want to show us a pic then just grab a screenshot - stick it on a FW page and upload.

Then send us a link to the page.

But for issues like this it is probably of more value for us to see a live page so that we can read the underlying code.
