[Pro] Code for custom facebook share icon

I’m trying to get a custom designed facebook button to share the page’s URL via facebook. I found these suggestions for links to the custom icon:

http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=[URL]&title=[TITLE]

http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=[EncodedURL]

I’ve tried both and am getting the same result when I click on my icon: A 401 Authorization Required message in the facebook share window.

Any thoughts on why I am getting this or an alternative approach to getting a custom designed facebook share button to work?

Can you post a link to your example - it sounds like you are trying to access content that is behind a login.

Interesting. I think I’ve found the problem, and uncovered another one.

Unlike the page on which I was having the problem, this page I made for you to look at is NOT htpassword protected. The problem disappeared, so it must have been the password protection that was causing the problem.

However, now facebook finds the name for the page to be “Master 2” rather than the “Facebook Sharing Code Test” name I have applied using the Better Meta Action , so it looks like it won’t be able to pick up the title or the rest of the meta data applied to it with the Better Meta Action.

I think this may be coming from Google’s cache rather than the page itself - might need some time.
