[Pro] colors: adaptive vs millions?

Hi,

I have a bunch of graphic text items as .png. I noticed the setting was on colors: ADAPTIVE.

What is the diff between adaptive and millions?

The reason I ask, is becasue something worked better for me on millions and I wanted to change my master to millions but wanted to see the difference before I do.

Transparency (alpha-channel) is only possible with ‘millions’.

That explains it. So millions is better because it gives more options?

Not as simple as that. Millions gives you a larger file size.

Personally I only use a png if I need transparency because a png file is much bigger than an equivalent jpeg.

Dave,

do you think I am ready to start adjusting the graphics on my site as I made all .png (especially my main smartboards) and I really would like to have it smaller in size to load faster and easier; however I want the quality to remain high.

You mentioned this early on to me…
