[Pro] Commercial Photography Template?

I’m a commercial photographer looking for a gallery type template. This is a website I found interesting and like that way it works on mobil devices; http://www.sgmphotography.com.
Ideally the template would have an incorporated gallery system. I have looked at the “Portfolio” template from Softpress but it doesn’t have the galleries.

This is my existing Freeway built site that utilizes the now defunct SlideShowPro director for galleries. http://www.danmurdoch.com

Any thoughts?

Hi Dan, this example uses the Thumblie gallery in Exhibeo which will import seamlessly into any Freeway document. Not sure if you’ve checked Exhibeo out but there are a few other gallery themes too, all of which are responsive.

You could also use something like WOWSlider which also integrates well with FW.

Outside of Freeway, have you considered any of the hosted solution like Pixieset or Smugmug etc etc. These have the added advantage of having client proofing systems and even sales.

Hope that helps a little? I’m sure others might have some more ideas too?

Mark,
I have looked at hosting solutions but I don’t need proofing and sales services. I also use my host for delivery of files via FTP. I do like Photoshelter but it’s a little pricey. (I still may do it if I’m not satisfied with what I come up on my own.)

I have Exhibeo but right now it doesn’t offer what I’m looking for in a gallery. I understand there is a new version coming out soon and maybe that will provide what I need.

I just thought I would check here to see if someone was offering a third party template that would save me the time of doing it myself.

Thanks for you feedback.

Danny,

I’ve looked at many image galleries and have also used slideshow pro in the past. My favourite is lightbox that is integrated into Pulsecms. Presumably usable out with Pulse also. It for me is the most adaptable for sequencing, replacing and captioning images.
Amazingly there are very few good options for simple, straight forward galleries imho. Most seem quite clunky. People (clients, editors) after all just wish to see thumbnails and then full size quickly and fuss free.

Here’s an example: http://www.pvaf.org.uk/logan
Backgrounds are of course changeable - colour, transparency etc.

Seoras,
Are you saying lightbox is a stand alone product that can be used with Freeway? If so where do I find it?

Pulse CMS looks interesting but they don’t really show examples. I would like to see more.

Hi Danny,

I’m not sure to be honest, though this might be the basis: Lightbox2 . The uploader with Pulse might be a separate entity.
The experts here should be able to help on this.

You could download Pulse (Pulse classic) and have a play .

Hi Danny,
Here are a couple of galleries I’ve done in Pulse Classic;
http://www.janerobbins.co.uk/gallery.php http://www.janerobbins.co.uk/gallery.php
http://elizabethsmithart.co.uk/gallery.php http://elizabethsmithart.co.uk/gallery.php

They both use Slimbox (Slimbox 2, the ultimate lightweight Lightbox clone for jQuery · digitalia.be http://www.digitalia.be/software/slimbox2/) which was part of the version of Pulse I used when building those sites. If you wanted to use a similar light box effect in Freeway you could look at my Apollo template that ships with a version of Lightbox 2 (Lightbox2 http://lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2/) but implemented as an Action.

Tim.
