[Pro] Contact form help.. Looking for some advice.

Hi there

I have a photog website that I have designed for my hobby that I would like to be able to turn into a side business if time permits. I’d like to make my contact page a bit more professional looking as in my opinion what I have now is very basic. At the time I made it, I used an action in FW Express 6. Now I have FW 7 Pro, so I’m hoping I can take advantage of something in there that will make it look a bit more refined.

Any tips?

Would love to see some examples if anyone has one on a site you made or manage.

There isn’t essentially anything wrong with your form - apart from the retro look of showing the borders on your table structure.

Here is an example of a simple form and at the bottom of that page is a link to the unbordered version.

Those forms use a bit of CSS to display small images in the fields to provide a visual queue as to what is required but they are only window dressing.

I think you will agree that the form without the borders/cell spacing looks far better than the one with.

But at the end of the day the form should be totally recognisable as exactly that without unnecessary embellishment.

You want your visitors to fill it in after all.

Very cool thanks for showing me that… Is that a form built using FW7Pro? The one I used was a freeway action I found, a php form I believe, and if you look @ mine it’s very basic not only in the 1980s look (haha) but also if you are in the message box, the text strand just keeps going out to the right rather than keeping it in the fixed width box like yours is… Which is what I want.

Should I just redo the form in 7? I like the little icons you have in there.

Is that a form built using FW7Pro?

Actually I think that was done in 5.6.5 but there is no difference using 7 - it also uses the PHPFeedback form action but the action does not provide any visual styling.

You can get exactly the same functionality from the SendForm action.

As I said the icons are added via some extra CSS code which I can share with you if you are interested. If you want to do that then find yourself some icons to use - mine are about 16px square.

Because you used the wrong sort of field - you used an Input/Field instead of a Text Area.
