I am new to FW and just started to do sites for friends and family, but an organisation has asked me to do a site for them and wanted a CMS to enable them to update the events content. Can i do that in FW? And has anyone kindly written a tute to do this?
Would really appreciated some advice/feedback and wise words on this as the client is PC base and have the usual misgivings abt compatiblity with Macs…
CMS has nothing to do with Macs vs PCs - there are alot of CMS options available and all work well with FW. I have an inhouse coder, so I create all mine bespoke. But see below for ones that will help you.
There are lots of threads in this forum to also help… plus alot of people use it, so if you have any questions - just ask and you will receive lots of help.

i would like to build an iphone oriented website that is a database
(of wineries) and i wonder if a cms would work ?
can you create say a 100 posts, then categorize them and allow the
category list to be accessed and people can then get to the winery
that way ?
I don’t know if it would suit your needs in detail, but this really
does sound like a blog to me! Remember, a blog IS a CMS.
Make blog posts, tag each with the right keywords, use keyword links
and/or explicit post links to get to the right articles…
There are many blog engine options out there, but for simplicity -
particularly in terms of designing the look ‘n’ feel - try http://www.blogger.com/. You can use Freeway to design a totally
custom Blogger template without having to go near the CSS and PHP
fragments typical of many systems.
actually i should have been more explicit in my post, i was trying to describe something just like wordpress …
yes, make all the posts, close off comments
categorize everything etc
i think this would work
and i will look at blogger
i own and highly recommend artisteer (at artisteer.com) which also builds front ends for blogger as well
anyway i would really prefer to find someone who has a simple implementation of a database integration so people can enter a zipcode or type of wine or ?? from a menu and then get results based on their request, i know something like wordpress mobile might work but i think it would be clunky
@FWRookie - another very popular CMS mentioned a few years ago on this forum is CuteNews. Development has ceased and the code is outdated, but someone else has taken up where CuteNews left off and brought things up to speed. I’m using it on a couple of sites and really it is drop dead simple to implement in Freeway and so far haven’t any issues to speak of. You can turn comments and popups on or off and actually insert your html markup much like Freeway allows. Adding photos and graphics is very easy with the built in uploader. Lots of other features and it’s free. UTF-8 CuteNews
wow, thanks, bookmarked, yet another, there is so much out there in the way of cms
cute news has the advantage of being free (over web yep which maybe is easier)
i still really wish i could find a simple database integration
learning php and mysql is pretty scary
i am still learning freeway so maybe there is a way to do this without being to complex
there is now a wordpress plug-in to create a wordpress mobile site
but i want to build an iphone site that allows people to enter a search box and get results
