[Pro] CSS Horizontal Menu Text Position

Hi - I am pulling my hair out trying to get the text in the CSS menu to space proportionately. I realize that the number of characters is not the same per each text item, however I have tried adding spaces in front and in back of the shorter text items to no avail.

Also, my client wants the arrows to all be close to the text (similar to the “Presenter” text) and not spaced far away from the text as it is with the other items.

Here is a link to my situation: http://www.thecallanishgroup.com/testing/tsrc2009/index.html

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To get the spacing right try centering the text. The arrows will be
trickier since they are placed from the right (or left if using left
sided menus) but you could try putting an arrow image inline after
your text (cant guarantee that would work though tbh). To do this
place the text cursor after the text and use Insert>Graphic item to
add the graphic inline (you’ll need to change the size of it manually).

Hope this helps,

Joe

Thanks for the tip. Note: it is a pain in the a** to get the first level centered while leaving the sublevels left aligned, but once it is done the menu does indeed look better IF you use a border and dividers to highlight each menu item. If you do not use the borders and dividers then the spacing of these words still looks a little off.

Are you using the “Content Width” option? That will use an even
spacing between each item that can be increased and decreased by using
the left and right padding options.

I find centering and left aligning the menus easier by using the
keyboard shortcuts (command-shift-C and command-shift-L respectively).
You can then just use the arrow keys to go down the list and hit the
shortcut for each list block you want to align.

Well, that did the trick. The combination of centering just the headers, adjusting the left and right padding, and then adjusting the arrow offset resulted in a very nice menu.

I appreciate all the tips and help.
