[Pro] CSS Menu Positioning Problem?

I’m having problems with an absolutely positioned CSS menu.

In Safari and Chrome on the Mac it looks fine, but in Firefox it’s positioned about 1 pixel lower than it should be.

In IE 8 it’s fine, but in Firefox and Chrome for Windows 8 it’s also 1 pixel lower than it should be.

If the CSS Menu were placed inline I probably wouldn’t be having these issues. Aside from doing that, it there anything I can do to fix this?

Increase the text size while viewing your page (in Safari) to see why you might want to rethink your layout.

This could well explain your browser differences.

Besides the Web is never going to be that exact (to 1px) - you have to allow for wriggle room.

How do I do that in Safari 6? There’s only a zoom in and zoom out option.

Figured it out. Yep, that’s a problem.

Okay, so I need to fix that, and the footer text. But when proofing websites how large is considered reasonable?

I imagine that even the best sites will break at some point if you keep increasing the font size.

I think two or three clicks is reasonable.

Actually the best sites wont break but a couple of clicks is considered reasonable expansion.

You have to remember that older/visually challenged visitors may have their min font size set larger than the normal default. There is also the cross platform/browser differences in font size rendering.

Well I fixed the menu problem, but I broke my footer. It should be a dark gray, but it has no color.

Everything is back to normal. Thanks guys. BTW, when I blew the type up to 24 pt. I realized why you should specify leading in percentages.
