[Pro] Directing traffic

Could anyone help me with designing a website which directs browsers from North America to a distinct welcome page?

I would like to put across a separate message to potential customers from the US and Canada when they first google the site.

Many thanks

Do you want them all to see the same domain name and address when they do? Is this unique content spread across several pages, or restricted to a single page? Finally, is this unique content you want people to be able to navigate to (show me the NA site/show me the UK site) or is it something you definitely don’t want people from other locales to see? (Maybe pricing or availability that doesn’t apply in their country.)

Oh, and what about Google and other 'bots? What should they see?

It’s pretty easy to figure out if someone is in such a broad geographical area based on their IP address, which forms a part of each request on the Web. Where you do get into trouble is when you try to figure out what municipality or even city someone is in from their IP address. I am routinely told by various services that I must be in Delaware or New York (I’m in Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia).

Thank you for your thoughts. I want to do something fairly simple which is to redirect NA traffic to a bespoke welcome page which will present our services in a way most relevant to these visitors. The rest of the site ( including pricing) is standard for all. The key is to give visitors from NA two or three key reasons for reading further.
Happy to just work this at country level and if it works well we will probably do the same for other countries.
Any further advice would be much appreciated.
