[Pro] Diskwarrior Found Issues with Freeway Files

I’m using Freeway 5.3.2 and was just starting to play with it to learn the app over the last couple days.

Today it was time to run my utilities and after permissions repair and Disk Utility (while booted to an external drive), I began to run DiskWarrior.

After DiskWarrior did it’s thing on my boot drive, it wanted to repair 23 custom icon flags IN the Freeway APPLICATION file. i.e. I had to right click the Freeway app icon and select “Show Package Contents” to see the items DiskWarrior wanted to repair.

I did a screen shot of the list as the DiskWarrior window wouldn’t allow me to copy and paste the text.
The screenshot is here… http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/4509/dw1w.jpg

So my question is, should I allow this repair since it seems to be messing with the guts of the app itself, or is this indicative of a bigger problem and I should re-download Freeway and reinstall it?

Thanks for any help!

Eric

That’s interesting. I suspect there’s a slight problem with the way the application is built back at Softpress Towers.

DiskWarrior is reporting issues with the built-in templates so it’s not a killer problem, but it might affect the ability to use those templates if you try to “fix” them - might be an idea to mention it to Softpress Support.

This is interesting.
I have this more than 30 year old BMW which I take care of myself. (yes, the old scool Zen and the Art of…

One thing is that I have learned the hard way is: ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’
So, I myself never ever use DiskWarrior as ‘prevention’. Only to repair. It’s a one trick poney after all.

Did you have problems with the app? Or with your Mac? If not, just do not touch it.

Again this is really only an issue if you are planning on using these Templates. If you aren’t going to use them anyway then why keep them? Just trash them and then the problem goes away.

If you are going to try them then repair and if they dont work after that then bin them!

Well Atelier, i drive a 30 year old Mercedes  and i do also take care of it myself… LOL, but wen i find something i do not know about, i go to the manufacture and ask for his advice. hard to find a w123 mecanic, but i’m sure Softpress would know what to do. So i would say, lets not jump into conclusions of a 3th party and ask the makers.

I’ve been using DW forever, and FW about as long. I started seeing this in DW a long time ago and I’m sure I reported it to Softpress back then. My apologies to SP if I didn’t and have subsequently neglected to follow up!

I always say Repair when these come up and haven’t had a problem. Custom Icon Flags merely tell the OS/Finder how to display the item, so they should not affect how the items work at all.
