[Pro] Drop Shadows On Graphics Look Bad

On the site I’m working on, we have some drop shadows on boxes with images in them. When I apply a drop shadow to the boxes, the outer edge has artifacts.

Here’s the page/site: http://k923.net/english1review/index.html

I KNOW how bad the pics are. That’s the best I can get. I’ll probably make them much smaller in the final version. Can you see how the edges look bad?

Could it be my shadow settings or maybe the images are too close together?

Using FW 5.4.1. Images are not combined.

Thanks.

I think my problem is when FW makes the box, image, border and effect one file type. For photos, I pick JPEG, but the border and effect also become JPEG and messes up the transparency of the effect over colored backgrounds,

Is there anyway to “separate” the JPEG image from the graphic box with the effects so they have two different file formats?

I could use PNG, but that increases the size of the images.

Thanks…

I dont think there would be that significant a difference in file sizes for these sorts of pics - give it a go and see how it looks.
