[Pro] Dynamic website

I have just started my first website with a database, so sorry if sounds like a stupid question, but very new.

I have uploaded webid to our domain (www.barnesknight.com) and I want to build the front end site using freeway.

Do I build the site as normal, but when a customer wants to view the auction, they just click a link that takes them from the index.html page to the index.php page of the data driven site

if so is this an internal or external link, as the webbid directories do not show in the freeway folders

Hi David,
There are two ways I can see this working;

  1. It appears you have the webid system uploaded to the root of your site so anyone coming to it will automatically enter into it. If you are happy with this then see if you can use Freeway to design a skin for webid and integrate this design into the existing system.

  2. Alternatively you can move webid to a sub directory or sub domain on your site (www.barnesknight.com/auction or auction.barnesknight.com for example) and create a gateway site about your company that introduces the visitor to your business before they enter into the webid part of the site.

If you went for option 2 you may feel you also want to look at option 1 as well depending on how good the default webid pages look.
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks Tim, your advice is very helpful, I think option 2 will work, I guess the hyperlink is then to the sub directory, the colour scheme for the main site will be similar, so should all blend in, thanks again
