[Pro] E-buy action no price

I created a Pay Here button and want to know is there a way to leave the amount open in the action so my client can simply fill in the amount himself on the first page of the cart before entering PayPal. This is the page I’m working on: http://webpages.charter.net/designemporium. Thanks in advance.

Hi Michael,
You can do this directly with the PayPal Action if you want to bypass the Freeway Shop Actions. Alternatively why not just leave the unit cost at $1 and instruct your clients to change the quantity to the invoice amount? I do this with my Kagi donation payments here;

Tim.

Tim,
What you have on your page as far as the donations go is exactly what I want to achieve. How do I do this? I think it has to be done in Mal’s e-commerce but I’ve gone brain dead reading all that stuff and I’m just missing it. Also you say I can do this directly with the PayPal Action, where do I acquire that? I think we’re on the right track, Thanks

Tim, I used the PayPal Action and it worked one time. I wanted to change some text in the action and did so. I saved it and reviewed it in Firefox on my mac running 10.4.11 and it has not worked since. I have followed all your directions to no avail. I have checked several times to make sure I’m entering the correct email for PayPal. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I would be expecting to see something like in your set up but its not there.

There is no info as to where the form should be sent/processed.

Hi Michael,
If you are using Freeway 6 (and I think 5.5 if I recall correctly) you should have the PayPal button Action already installed. Add it to the page with Insert > Action Item… > PayPal button and use the Action palette to set the ‘User sets amount’ checkbox;

Tim, thanks for responding. The version of Freeway I’m using is 5.4.3 as I’m running 10.4.11 on my Mac. Can’t go any higher until I get a new Mac. When I look at the code for the page all the info I entered into the action seems to be there. Here is the page: http://webpages.charter.net/designemporium/index.html

It is now 20 minutes later: I have other sites I’ve built and hosted on GoDaddy and the button works perfectly. I’ve discovered Charter, my ISP doesn’t support the e-commerce buttons. Thank You for responding and trying to help. The button is great and does exactly what I want, Thanks Again!
Mike
