[Pro] e-buy forms and freeway

i need some help and would be greatly appreciative for any guidance. i am very much of a newbie… so i hope there is no script involved in this process.

simple problem:

assume i have a jewelry box which i want to sell… i would like to give the user the option to buy x quantity and choose the type of wood work on it (i.e. a cross, none, flower, star). Depending on the woodwork… there is a different price.

i simply to not know to do it. tried reading over over page 420 from the freeway manual but no matter what i do, i cannot seem to get a different price appear in my cart with the respective name.

i am using Mal’s as my cart management system.

thank you!

You require the E-buy form action, the E product variation action and the E quantity action to get this to work.

The top one on this page (tickets for the show) uses these but the actual form is not a working version. http://www.deltadesign.co/odds/tartan.html

The pic below shows the construction within FW.

OK - forget what I said.

There is an action suite that will enable you to do this easily which is available at http://www.freewayactions.com/product.php?id=016

Tim’s Mal’s E-commerce suite offers a multi price selector amongst its many other options - but it does cost $40. It provides quite an elegant way to give the same Button set different price variables.

It would appear that with the standard FW set you would have to have different buttons for each price variation.

But if you had a box with a star that was $20 and one with a cross that was also $20 they could be combined into one button with the standard actions using the product variation.

If you are going to do many products then Tim;s action suite would be the way to go.

You can also get code from Mal’s to help you create your own button set. Look in Mals support section under the Creating Buy Now Buttons.

Ok… got the action suite and i must be super dim…

i need help please… i cannot find anyone to provide me with any insight on how to get this done…

Then I am trying to make some level of choices for the user for my test part
which is the jewelry box.

In this example, its a little jewelry box with one price for no wood work
($29.99) or $36.99 for the boxes with either a cross, fleur de lys or star on it. please see www.ccbsfurniture.com/lt-ACC19 for what i am trying to do

I have been going over and over the section of advanced buy forms and i simply don’t get it.

thanks in advance.

Wow - huge background image at over 2Mb! You should reduce that dramatically to less than 150Kb.

Do you have the multiprice selector dropdown and submit button inside the HTML item or table that has the Mal’s Buy Form Setup applied to it?

Also if you reduce the height of the multiprice item to one line high it will become a proper dropdown.

oups… i will reduce that right a way… what is the best format for web? i will dump into photoshop and amend that issue.

what i need are instructions for dummy’s per say

here is what you see

  1. html box to which i applied Mals’ form
  2. then as a child item put in another helm box and applied mall’s multi price
  3. then put in a mals buy botton…

but i think i am doing it all wrong as it simply does not work.

basically how the devil do you have the item with the option (either cross, maple, star) show up in the shopping cart with the correct price?!? I keep on getting 100 bucks…

it is driving me insane!!

are you supposed to input the products somewhere in the Mal’s admin webpage???

Any help you can provide, i will be very grateful… it seems just too easy but i cannot get it.

ok… something weird happened… i tried doing everything as though i was writing text… i.e. all the lists ad butons are part of a sentence per say…

seems to be partially happy but now i get this link verification thing going on (and this option is not even checked!!!)

help still required…

thanks

(and this option is not even checked!!!)

In FW or in your Cart Setup in Mal’s - check both places.

sadly in both… in FW that area is greyed out… (i.e. for the sake of simplicity at this point… adding no options)

baffles the crap out of me…

DAve, so for all these Mal’s Actions, you need to write them in like text?? Ie “importing” them as children does not work?? Just checking… still trying hard to understand here… is there a more detailed tutorial out there for “Dummy’s”?

No. I would use a table and insert them into cells of the table like my example at http://www.deltadesign.co/odds/tartan.html

This page uses the standard FW actions but the principle is the same ie create a table - insert text and buttons/selectors and apply the Mals Buy Form Setup to the table.

I have never actually used Tim’s action suite (don’t have it) so I cannot give you a FW page example but you should be able to copy one from the example page that comes with the action and paste it into your own page and then adjust it to suit.

I dont have the action to check but I think that you are not defining the different product prices in the Multi price select section correctly.

Email Tim directly using the form at http://www.freewayactions.com/product.php?id=con

I got it!! through trial and error i found the issue! and I am floored by it…

if you put “:” in the description field of the product it all fails… insane! but there you have it!!

This brings us back to the correct naming of any files that are to be used on the web.

The ‘safe’ characters are the Alphanumerics, A-Z, a-z, 1-0 and _ underscore and - hyphen. Anything else should be avoided!

The problem is that the action uses the : colon to separate the information sent to the cart so if you stick an extra, unexpected, colon in there it falls apart.

Still seeing that HUGE bg image in there!

Can I just mention that when I see Online Canadian…

It usually is a Spam email with the subject ‘Online Canadian Pharmacy’ trying to flog me Viagra. (Why anybody would think I need that I don’t know!)

My thoughts would be that there may be a better way to advertise yourself without that connotation.
