[Pro] Easy Reflections vs. Using a Reflected Graphic

Hello,
Will I run into browser compatibility issues by using Easy Reflections vs using Photoshop to make the reflection and then bringing the whole image (with the reflection) into FW. In other words, by using the Easy Reflection action, since it uses PHP script, that some browsers may not support it and the reflection won’t show up.

Thanks!

PHP runs on the server, and the number of servers that cannot run PHP is vanishingly small. That said, configuring an image modification script (if this doesn’t just work out of the box) can often be a can of worms. Try it. The only limiting factor will be your server, and how ready and able your hosting provider will be in assisting you with the yak shaving that may ensue.

There is also the CSS3 approach http://www.deltadesign.co/css3/css3-reflector.html

There is limited cross browser support but there are only single items/images used here so smaller file sizes.

The PHP method - provided your server supports it - shouldn’t have any browser issues.

Hi there… (desperately hoping that this thread is not dead)

I have a site with (dead) PHP Easy Reflection Actions. http://www.umeavloppsteknik.se

How would I go about implementing the CSS3 solution instead? Any and all suggestions would be welcome!

Dead in what way?

The problem is that Browser support for the CSS method is still limited to Webkit Browsers - it doesn’t work in Edge, IE or Firefox

I see, thanks for letting me know. I will do it manually then with doubled graphics.

Thank you.

Can you explain what you mean by “(dead) PHP Easy Reflection Actions”

Dead in what way?

They did not work anymore. Just showed a small icon, but no reflection. I have replaced them now with new graphics instead.

Just tested here and it works fine in 7.1.3

Sounds like you have some missing graphics - how are you uploading?

If you are not using FW to upload you may not be uploading all the images.

That is interesting. I never changed anything. The action just stopped working quite sometime ago. I presumed it had to do with the update to 7. Thanks for letting me know. I will have to take a look again.
