Is it possible to monitor email traffic. Not to read the emails but just to see how many email links are used and from which page? I think Google Analytics can do this ? Wondering if anyone has done so or will it be just too much of a hassle.
Google analytics can record individual actions on the page – what link was clicked, etc. – even if they don’t result in the browser navigating elsewhere. The GA Action sets up the script that will perform this for you, but you would need to add some JavaScript to the page to call the _trackEvent() function. Have a google for ‘google analytics event tracking’, and see if you can find an easy-to-follow script. Remember, Freeway (well, the Action) will have already added the basic site tracking code for you, so don’t double up on that part.

You could of course have each page have their own unique email identifier on the link ie mailto:email@hidden?subject=Enquiry from product_page and then the client can see exactly which pages they are coming from.
Its the other way round, prospective client (a local enterprise organisation) wishes to see how many are emailing ‘their’ clients from their own website. Personally not convinced by idea but if the client want’s client occasionally gets :-o

Yes that does require the GA approach - or something similar.
In a case like that you are never very sure what you will learn - probably that contacts are made through clients’ websites and not through the Enterprise site.

Second time in two weeks I’ve been asked for a responsive site.
