I ask this
what is the best way to embed videos on FW Pro. I have done youtube action and source code snooper in the past. his work fine BUT
I have a new site I am making which will use a lot of videos. Is this still the best way. or is Vimeo better, or is there another stand alone way.
Thanks for the help

is Vimeo better, or is there another stand alone way.
Vimeo is good - better quality than YouTube. But for goodness’ sake
DON’T use Source Code Snooper to insert the embed code. Just insert a
markup item box and put the code in that. SSS is a neutron bomb of an
action that should be left as an absolute last resort.
Hi Keith
I know that but its the only way to keep related videos off my site. Youtube has related videos embedded and I have a way to keep that option off
but thanks… I am now going to use Vimeo platform andsee how that fares. Hopefully there will not be related videos like YT
You said you used Source Code Snooper to do this. What I’m suggesting
is that that is probably just editing the code that you’d normally
just copy/paste into a Markup Item box anyway.
So why not cut to the chase? Ditch both actions, go get the code from
the relevant YouTube page (it is the ‘embed’ code that’s shown near
the video), paste that into a Markup Item box on your page, and
adjust it right there.
What exactly did you do previously to prevent the related videos
stuff from appearing?
Oh I understand Keith, yes
ok I use Tim Plumb code that took related videos away…Let me know if anyone needs it… So I will not use source code again, anyway I wil be using Vimeo from here on in and the action seems pretty easy on FW
Hi Dave,
I’ve added two new actions to ActionsForge (http://actionsforge.com/)
that should help. The first is called YouTube Pro and offers a whole
host of options when embedding YouTube content into your Freeway
pages. The second is a Vimeo action that does much of the same sort of
thing but works with, you guessed it, Vimeo’s content.
Before I knew about these I cut and pasted some code from a website & inserted it in a ‘markup item’ in a site I was designing. It was a bit hit and miss, but I got there in the end. Your actions will make this so much easier!
If it asks you for a user name & password, these are; wwwthel, and oskar2704 respectively.
Dave - This uses vimeo, and I’ve never found a problem with it.

Tim - I’ve used several of your actions and would like to say thank you for developing each. Your actions definitely make life easier in FW. I appreciate the links and your feedback.
