I keep hitting the bottom of the page as I add items and have to retype the length to a larger figure in order to see the bottom. How do I set it to extend automatically?
I’ve checked the manual but the only mention I can find is in setting the default page height in a new document. That’s not helpful for my existing document.
If you are using layer items then the page won’t automatically extend - you’ll need to extend the page manually using the Page Inspector palette.

(Forgive my ignorance but FWP was sold to me as a “WYSIWYG” web page creator requiring zero code knowledge. On that basis I expected something like QuarkXpress where I plonk graphics and text onto a page and it just works.)
Will this bug be fixed? I’m working on a 670 page site and it’s tedious to have to set every single page height by hand.
I don’t think it can be classed as a bug. Does Quark extend its page size to accommodate stuff you add?
Layer items have a green border. Non layer blue.

Do you use Master pages?
If you do then you can create different height Masters depending on the content. So you would have several Masters and use the one appropriate for the content.
Masters are a great way of cutting out a huge amount of repetition.
Obviously Quark is designed for a fixed page size (e.g. A4) for printing but what it does is to create a new page each time the existing page text or graphics overflows so, in effect, “yes”.
I’m using a set of master page templates created for me by an expert so I’ll see if I can change their heights. Is it OK to set it at, say a million?
All other web creation software allows an infinite “page” size so it’s certainly a bug - or at the very least an unnecessary imposition.
Good point. Hadn’t considered scrolling!
I’ll try 10,000. I think that should be close for most of my pages. I haven’t gotten round to it yet because I’m recovering from viral conjunctivitis. Some days I can’t focus well.
Its a starting point - try a couple of pages at that length and see how easy it is to navigate. Remember to add in a method for the viewer to get back to the top easily.
