I’m just about done with my site and I will upload it soon. I would like to put a like button for FB but I’m not sure how to do that… I tried adding some code I found online but it added the button and then when I liked it also added my fb id info directly onto the site home page which I don’t want. I want the button to allow people to like my website and to have that posted at their FB pages.
Is there a way to do that in freeway pro?
I do also have a separate FB page for my biz, but I’m not sure if I can link that there as well for people to like?
I’m following the instructions for the FB like button, but there is a problem…
I set this up on the wrong page and I deleted the item for the button. But now when I try to redo it on another page, no window for the item is opening up- even when I undo document set up and take out the website url.
I don’t have a server to upload to, but I am having another problem, there is no way to upload my screen shot here?
The first time I did the FB button it worked, but it was on the wrong page… I redid it and it seemed to work at first but as soon as I changed the color and hid faces of people who liked the page and changed the text, I was left with an empty pink box, my background color.
I deleted everything and started over twice and I’m getting this message now when I try to view it in a browser… item has no properties, and there is a java script error.
Do you know what the problem could be?
All I did was not to show faces, change the font and background color as well as change the size of the overall box.
Select the FB item on your FW page and then look in the Action Window.
To see the Actions Inspector go to the Main Menu at the top of the FW Window choose Menu>Window and make sure that Actions is Ticked. Now when you select the FB item then your settings will be shown and if there is an error (javascript) you will get the option to clear it.
I cleared the error 3 x as it gave me the option to do that in the actions window… I’m not sure what the problem is. I just did a tweet button with no problem. I will try this one more time and see if will work this time. This is nuts that it worked & now it won’t.
I tried deleting the like button box once again and starting all over. I cleared the error 4 x again but I just keep getting the same message- item has no properties & java script error.

This is a problem that is likely to be with the action settings itself and is very difficult to diagnose without seeing the FW document itself.
I would suggest that you send your FW file to support(at)softpress.com so that they can diagnose it for you but it is likely to be a very simple error.
Without server space where you can share a screenshot of your action settings - you could use a photo sharing site like Flickr - it is difficult for us.
I opened and closed freeway a few times and the problem seemed to resolve itself fortunately. One thing I don’t understand about Freeway is that it often looks like there is tons of room for something like the twitter/facebook button but when you put it there in freeway it is either overlapping or isn’t even visible on the actual site. I think my pages may be too short overall also as I could barely fit one row on a page & two would have gone off the bottom of the page…
When I upload the site I will ask another question I had asked earlier about scroll bars being added in on my product pages for some reason.
well, I finally have my website up after 7 hours or so of major problems.
I was told to take the spaces out of the file name in order to be able to direct it to the correct domain and for it to work at one & one. It still wasn’t visible though and I got the same error messages as I was getting because 1&1, my server, was/is blocked by our server computer.
Then I was told all of the pages were not html( they seem to be php in part of the freeway folder) and I should redesign the website in another software! However after someone else redirected it to the site folder where the files seem to be ok, it was visible.
But the Facebook & twitter buttons aren’t visible. The last tech told me this was because those files had problems as well as most of the other files which aren’t html.He asked me to re-save the site and upload it under a new test name so that he could try to figure out what was wrong with those buttons.
But this caused more problems since I tried to save it to the desktop and it seems to have messed up my whole freeway folder now for the website- I have no named newest version of the folder now.
I’m not sure what to do- do I have to redesign this all over in a new folder? And then try to upload to 1&1 again?
Any one have any ideas on why the twitter and fb buttons don’t work and aren’t visible? They were/are visible and working in the browser.
I’m also wondering about why scroll bars are appearing on the product pages- I think it is due to some overflow but I’m really not sure. And I think my pages are too short- can I simply correct that by making the length longer in the page inspector?
