[Pro] Fading slideshow causing applescript timeout and application quit

I’ve opened a legacy document created by an earlier version of FW and am trying to update it. The problem is that it won’t publish. Each time I try, I get an applescript time out error -1712, and then FW quits. I’m using the latest version of FW.

I’ve narrowed it down to the fading slideshow contained on each page, if I disable the action, it publishes, if not, it quits. Can anyone suggest how to get around this problem please?

It may be that fading slideshow is too long in the tooth.

You could use Sequence Timer with Target Show/Hide instead or Walters ScriptyFader.

What other FW actions are on that page - there may be a conflict.

Thanks David, I’ve sorted it by removing the action from the item then reapplying it.

This is a good way of trying to sort an action problem.

Remove all instances of an action that is causing problems, republish and then reapply.

Glad it is working OK - just wary of an action like that which is now unsupported as Weaver appears to be out of FW world.

Not a bad idea to look at alternatives that continue to be supported - like ScriptyFader.

Thanks for that David, I had no idea that it was no longer supported!

The action was developed by Weaver (based on a script from Dynamic Drive - Ultimate Fade-In Slideshow (v1.5) http://www.dynamicdrive.com ) quite a few years ago.

This DD script is now at v2.4 so it has been updated several times over the years to keep up with browser advancements.

Unfortunately the FW action uses a script based on v1.5 so it has to be considered as well out of date - hence the suggestion to look at something more current.
