[Pro] Fixed Headers and Footers

I am building a site that has a number of coloured horizontal stripes including a footer and a header, and want these items to be full width in whatever browser or screen size is used.

I have gone through the forum and found examples and have replicated the instructions, and it has worked on a header that I did, but problems are:

  1. When I enter graphics/text it is all aligned to the left

  2. Once I have entered one header, I cannot see how to add the second, as I cannot double-click to get the cursor blinking

finally does this have to be carried out at the begining, or is it possible to add during building the site

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the reply, I think my description was not correct, its not fixed as in be able to scroll and header stays in place, it just to have the width so that in most browsers, the header and footer would be the screen width.

I have done most of what you say, and it works fine, I also found another way, by switching off CSS, insert an html, and selecting "width to grow’, in both cases the page alignment is set to none.

So the header result is as needed, but when i try to build the page using a slide show, CSS menu. graphics, text etc, everything is aligned to the left when I view in the browser.

There are 4 sections like this to build on the index page, and 2 on all the others

With regard to Footers, be sure to check out Paul Dunning’s free Action that handles such content nicely:

http://www.actionsworld.com/Actions/MakeFooter/index.php

I use it on all my sites.

By doing this you cannot create a true inline layout which is required for a centre aligned full width header/footer.

Exactly.

The current stat in fact is, that I do not know how FW6 is offering some significant changes for all that inflow stuff - I mean from the construction side and if my knowledge is out-dated now regarding the solid div-in-div stuff.

I’m so unsure to recommend things unless I do not know how the new milestone works - so apologize if I’m no further help here for the moment.

Cheers
