[Pro] Footer/header that expands to width of Browser

I have read the notes on this thread and downloaded the file Ern has very kindly uploaded, but I’m very much in the dark still and hitting a brick wall of frustration trying to do this.

Just to explain, I have been using Freeway for years but only just upgraded to 6.12 so be gentle!

Trying to replicate Erns settings is proving impossible for me.

When I open the file and click on the footer, for one thing it is fixed in position with red handles and the ‘html item’ fields in the inspector are like this:

But when I draw a html item the ‘html item’ fields are different?

Even if I draw an item in a new document I cannot get the same fields or make the expanding footer work…

Sorry if this is a total noob question, I’m sure it’s simple but got me stumped! :frowning:

Working my way through the Inline CSS Layout tutorial which was sent from HQ, hopefully I’m getting somewhere now… more questions to follow no doubt :wink:

First of all, thanks for downloading my Inline Starter Example.

Second, my apologies to everyone who downloaded my Inline Starter example.
I have come to realize the last iteration jumped a bit too far from “basic”
to “intermediate” and I likely need to make two examples as this one has
confused quite a few beginners with inline/box-model construction
techniques. Probably I should do a whole series but I cannot even maintain
a blog on it without some difficulty.

Anyway, Gavin - you are discovering the inline layout technique where boxes
are not “drawn” but “inserted” into the text flow inside other boxes. I’ll
try and keep an eye out for your future questions on the subject.
