[Pro] Freeway Upload problem

Hi all,

I am experiencing a problem with my uploads.

I updated to Freeway 5.5 pro last night from 5.4

Almost every time I upload my website (65 pages) it seems to go out until I view the web site.

I get almost blank pages. The only content visible is the content which appears on the master page. The individual pages are blank??

I have published everything to a new folder and re-uploaded that but not joy.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Neil

This sounds odd, and not something that we’ve come across before. You might be better off sending the file into our Support team but in the meantime, do you have a link we can look at?

What do you see when you preview your Site Folder on your HD with a Browser?

It’s just happened again, I published ‘everything’ and then uploaded. The index page is fine, select one of the other pages from the menu own the left (except ancillary items as that seams fine)

www. wet rooms direct dot net

I’ll have to try and publish again in a few minutes as I can’t leave it like this.

Thanks,

Neil

And when you look at the site in its folder on your HD with your browser what do you see?

Quick Page Preview looks fine and browser preview looks ok. However, after clicking browser preview Freeway re-built the site again so maybe it’s corrected itself again.

I’m about to try to upload again to try and correct it. I sometimes get orders at this time of night so can’t afford to have it down too long.

I have experienced this problem before but only a problem with the odd page. I’m not sure whether an old file in updated Freeway is causing a problem? Or is it something I’m doing in the general layout ?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the correction. Sometimes I can’t see the trees for the woods, staring at the same pages all day it’s easy to miss silly errors. A pair of fresh eyes is always appreciated.

Thanks,

You would be well worth using the Spell Checker as there are quite a few ‘instances’ when you look closely. 100% recycable

And send your file to SP for examination.

Hello, Hope you don’t mind me asking but is the shop categories menu done using the CSS menu action?
Glad you resolved your issue.

Hi Tonzodehoo,

Yes, the categories menu is created using the CSS menu action. The title bar containing the wording ‘Shop Categories’ is a separate HTML box with Corners action applied.

Let me know if you need any more info to set up your own.

Hi,

I had another occurrence of the aforementioned upload problem again this morning, so I sent my file off to Softpress support for some advice.

I just received a response :

"Once a site becomes very complex in terms of the code it needs to produce, it may require the File>Publish Everything treatment to make sure that Freeway is publishing all the files in the site, even those it may mistakenly believe do not require republishing. As you are aware, this changes the “time stamp” of the items which means that the entire site will require uploading for subsequent uploads.

Some third-party Actions (especially particular complex ones) may be the cause of the problem - but it is very difficult to test this as sometimes it will only occur when combinations of different Actions are used."

They also suggested it could be a cache issue. I have responded to rule this out.

The only actions I have added recently are Simple Site Search action & CSS corners.

Looks as though I’ll have to ‘Publish Everything’ and upload the lot whenever the problem occurs.

Cheers,

Neil
