[Pro] full-screen image zoom?

Is there a way to get an image to zoom to full-screen in a lightbox sort of way?

What do you mean by full screen? Do you mean hide the entire monitor,
including menu bar, a la Flash? Or are you simply looking for a
lightbox that covers the visible page within the browser window?

thanks for the quick reply!

You will have to use Flash to get that. Nothing else can override the
entire display – especially to cover the Mac menu bar. You could get
somewhat close by spawning a new window, setting it to full-screen
(you’ll need some JavaScript to get that value in a clean cross-
platform way) and then use a normal lightbox to cover that. You’ll
still see the Mac menu bar and the browser chrome (although you can
turn most of that off). But you won’t be getting two visits from me, I
can assure you, since I really hate having my browser window jinked
with.

I wouldn’t mind the effect if it were an option one could choose - but for those sites that are set up to automatically hijack your entire screen…they should all be shot. LOL It’s worse than pop ups. Incredibly rude. FWIW, I never, ever use full screen mode on a computer screen for anything.

Walter, thanks very much for all the info.

I most definitely don’t wish to hijack someone’s browser window. I hate that myself. I ‘just’ want something akin to Apple’s Quicklook, so that users can click an image, and it then zooms the the size of the viewer’s monitor, automatically scaling the image as well.

Again, I don’t know it that’s possible of not.

If it is, it will take Flash to do that completely. And that means
that each element you wish to scale will have to have a Flash element
near it or covering it (or being it) that will need to be clicked
physically in order to have this effect execute. This is a security
feature baked into Flash, that you cannot enter full-screen mode
except by a direct mouse click on a Flash element.

way out of my league

I’ll stick with the current lightbox action then.
Thanks again for all the help!
