[Pro] FWP-6 and CSS Menus Action

I’m having trouble with my CSS Menus action in FWP-6 itself.

The menus are initially showing up on Master and Child pages, then they disappear, or rather, become invisible. If I ‘Select All’ on the page (Master or Child) I can see all the drag handles, but still no outlines or content.

However … they still publish correctly.

(As an aside, this page should be showing AddThis (re : my other thread) :

NB … I have 4 CSS Menus per page, which is a formatting workaround that slows loading FWP Master pages to a crawl. (I’ve previously been through this with Joe).

Hi Grant,

Can you send your file into support(a)softpress.com so we can take a closer look, please?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

okay … I’ll email the file.

I have the same problem - if I want to make a change to one of my master pages, I have to wait at least 5 minutes for it to load first.

It took me around half an hour today to make a minor change to 5 master pages.

Building the site takes an age too.

When I removed all the CSS menus from the site, it went back to normal, with master pages being quick to load. But as soon as I applied the menus again, the problem came back.

Does anyone know a workaround, or an alternative to CSS menus?

If you do the alterations to your child page, you will not get the delays. It’s only when it’s a Master that there are major slowdowns (possibly because it’s building changes for all the child pages in the background each time it’s loaded). Once you’ve got the page the way you want it, copy and paste the appropriate elements onto the Master and re-apply.

Well … you did ask for a workaround.

Hi,

Thanks. Unfortunately, that’s what I’ve been having to do.

I’m also finding that it takes a huge amount of time to build the site now - whenever I want to upload it, or even just to preview in a browser takes minutes, where it used to take seconds.

I think I’m losing at least an hour a day watching the dreaded ‘spinning wheel’ compared to when I was using 5.5.1

Interesting that you find it slower in FW6. I had this problem in 5.5 and sent Joe my files, which unfortunately he said was because I had 4 CSS Menus on my page and it is building the menus each time I activate the Master. However, I’ve found that I have no slow down working on a FW6 child page with a newly created CSS Menus action and I’ve continued to work without any slowdown in this way. The page is very simple apart from the menus. Once I’d copied it back across to a Master, it is nowhere near as slow as my previous, very similar menus. So the bug is not as straightforward as it at first appears.
