[Pro] Gallery in Freeway 3.5.15

Hi,

I’m still using this version of Freeway is there a gallery action I can install which produces the same type of galleries as those made on Flash sites? At the moment I’m using link to new window to produce a portfolio (I’m a graphic designer) but I want to be able to open each piece of work individually?

Ideally I’d like it to work like a flash gallery, but I can’y use flash. Anyone have any suggestions?

Forget Flash. It’s dead.

You could think about using a CMS like PulseCMS (http://pulsecms.com). Inserting a gallery is a piece of cake.

What you are referring to is called lightbox.

There is an action (that I used even in FW3.5) but please note, that no engineer of those action will support you these days if things are screwed up for whatever reason.

ScriptyLightbox is only supported from level 4, so give it a go without any kind of warranty:

Hi Thomas,

Thanks unfortunately I use 3.5.15 not sure this will work. I’d like to upgrade at some stage, but just lost my job so can’t justify an upgrade. Is there a version which will work on 3.5.15? or something similar? I do have a copy of Dreamweaver, but don’t really want to go down that route as Freeway is far quicker at producing small brochure-style sites.

Thanks
Kevin

Did you try it? I don’t have a copy of 3.5 running any more, but I think it has a more than even chance of working. There is one corner of the code that may trip you up, but I am only guessing because I don’t recall what version of Freeway gained the ability to run AppleScript in an Action. So download the Action, install it as normal, and in the Freeway preferences, be sure that “Enable AppleScript in Actions” is checked on. If it doesn’t work, then you can remove it from your Actions folder and no harm done.

Hi Kevin,

The gallery with Pulse is now excellent, very similar to your example, though it doesn’t have the smooth action. http://pulsecms.com/ You can caption and rearrange order of images, change background colour, etc.

You can see it in action here: Scottish Photography by George Logan :: Trees

Hi waltd/seoras

I tried this it didn’t work the file looks different to the others when installed in actions. I wonder if it works or maybe I downloaded the wrong version. I downloaded the oldest version as I’m using 3.5.15. Not sure if this would make a difference. I did enable Applescript in the preferences as well. So not sure now.

Thanks seoras was actually trying to find a free action to do this. Have to say though the gallery looks good as you say. Not sure will work on 3.5.15 though. I’ll try. If I can I’d rather find a free solution to this or it’s continue to use pop up windows which doesn’t look nearly as professional.

Pulse works with any HTML at all. All versions of Freeway back to 1.2 or so have made lovely, semantic HTML.

Hi Kevin,

You can download for free to try. I appreciate you are looking for something free and there probably is something but for £18 it really is worth it even just for the gallery as it makes life so simple.
As a photographer (better than web person:) I’ve tried and looked at quite a few gallery options, I’m more than happy with that shipped with Pulse, they also have a slideshow version.

Did the version you downloaded have the .fwaction suffix?

If so you could try changing it to .act3

Or try Weavers MooTools suite - it might work with your version http://www.coastalrugs.com/Actions/mootoolssuite.html

Hi Delta Dave,

Thanks the name was ScriptyLightbox.fwactionb. I haven’t tried that but I will. The MooTools looks exactly like I’d like my gallery to look. I’ve email support to ask them if it works with my version fingers crossed and thanks.
