I was playing around with Google’s new Keyword Planner today, which is a very cool tool.
A few days ago, I noticed that when I search for something, say plumbing, Google offers up the plumbers that tend to be closest to me. How does Google determine which companies are located locally? Are they using website titles, h tags, or something else to make that determination?

Geolocation info from your IP address - unless you are on mobile when it might come from your GPS if you allow it.

Then how does Google know what businesses are truly local if it doesn’t use Geolocation?
