What’s the best way to select and move a carousel pain with nested elements? I’m wasting countless time trying to move these guys around.

If you have named your Panes sensibly in the inspector then the first step is to change from Site to Page view at the top of the LH column.
You can now select the correct Pane from the item list down the side and the Pane on the page will be selected. The actual move is the tricky bit as you need to hover over the edge of the Item until the cursor pointer goes ‘hollow’ and then click and drag.
You can also nudge with the arrow keys or change the position using the Dimensions pane in the Inspector.
