I’ve been building a new web site with a substantial amount of graphic text on some of the pages. Everything looks crisp and sharp in all browsers on Macs but when I checked it out in IE the graphic text is pixelated. I’ve tried setting the text to GIF adaptive and PNG millions. It doesn’t make a difference.
Does anyone know of a fix for this or do I just have to live with it?
If you are setting graphic text on top of a background colour that is NOT solid or is graduated, then you may have to manually choose the colour to antialias against.
FW defaults the anti-alias setting to auto but you can choose a different colour to AA against - if your background is graduated you may want to chooses a colour that is a compromise.
Thanks David, the graphic text boxes all have transparent backgrounds. The actual background colors/images are contained in boxes beneath the text.
Actually, I’ve noticed that the same thing is happening on major web sites that I’ve looked at so either it’s IE or maybe the XP computer I was using, but I don’t think I’ll muck with it.
The best practice for doing this is to place the text AND the background of your text together as one graphic whenever possible. Not always possible or convenient, but the results are superior.
