[Pro] Grouping Problem

I’m having a weird problem. I have two gif images (text) that I’m trying to group together to make a rollover. Once I group them, I can no longer move them. The lock button is not checked.

Thanks!

When you group two objects, it becomes very fussy to move the group.
If you click on the middle of the grouped object, you are actually
clicking on the top-most object, and when you drag, you are trying to
move that top object relative to the group. You don’t mean to do
this, naturally, but that is what you are doing in the Freeway UI.

In order to move the group, try this: sneak up on an edge of the group
with your mouse cursor. When you see the cursor become a hollow head
arrow with a tail, click and begin your drag. The whole group should
go along for the ride. The trouble is this gives you a 1px (wide or
tall, depending on the edge you snuck up on) click target, so as I
said, it’s very fussy.

Thanks for the tip Walter! I think that’s worked for me in the past and I’d forgotten it!

I find it a lot less fiddly with one of the following methods, depending on circumstances

1 Lock the items in the group (not the group) then you can click anywhere and drag it around.

2 Select the group in the page/site panel and shift in with the arrow keys.

3 Select the group in the page/site panel and enter the x and y position you want it to be in in the inspector.

Thanks, Richard. I’ll try that!
