I can’t see where to click here – is there a fader with navigation on this page? BTW, there’s nothing random about SF – it always uses the same order to display the fading panes – their order in the source code, determined by their ‘stacking order’ on the Freeway page.
News Cycle uses exactly the same ordering model, except that you make your “panes” by inserting inline images or other HTML elements in a parent HTML box. If you wanted to fade between images, your news source box would be an HTML box (off on the pasteboard somewhere) that looked like this:
+-----------------------+
| +-------------------+ |
| | | |
| | image | |
| | | |
| +-------------------+ |
| +-------------------+ |
| | | |
| | image | |
| | | |
| +-------------------+ |
| +-------------------+ |
| | | |
| | image | |
| | | |
| +-------------------+ |
+-----------------------+
The resulting code would be something like this:
<div id="news-source">
<p><img src="Resources/foo.jpg" alt="foo" /></p>
<p><img src="Resources/bar.jpg" alt="bar" /></p>
<p><img src="Resources/baz.jpg" alt="baz" /></p>
</div>
You would sort the images by dragging them up and down within the HTML box. If you wanted to combine HTML (text) with the images, then you would create an inline HTML box in place of the images, and add your text and images into each inline box. This way you could create a caption for each image, or more elaborately, compose a laid-out block with traditional Freeway-positioned elements.
As long as you use the exact same type of content for each element in the cycle (always HTML boxes, always inline images, always list items) the script will know what to do and will give you what you’re looking for. When the page loads, the script first hides the source box entirely, so it doesn’t appear on screen. Next, it looks at the first child element inside the source box and sets that as the template for what the rotating content will be. Finally, it scoops up all of the “peer” elements within the source box and starts its loop, animating each one into place on your desired frequency.

Many thanks again for the input.
I’ve set this up and its at test stage just now but good as the newscycle is, its the timing of the cycling images and the capacity to order them or make them random as well as adding the scripty buttons which is where I am hoping to get to with this inline setup slideshow.
