I was told I can have elements on each page (like header and footer) which can be exactly the same in the same position on every page, which would save me extra work of trying to position the same text and logo on every page. How do I do that?

HMMM.Thank you. Then I must be doing something just wrong. When I look at my page on FW every page is a Master… Whenever I add page it just shows up as a master, that all. And it is always Master1. What do I do now? The homepage is called MAster 1. The next two pages are also Master1. What do I do to have, say, the name which figures on the homepage (Master1) page show also on the second and third page? How do I get rid of “Master1” on the second and third pages? I imagibe these are kindergarden questions…Sorry.
OK, thanks. So, please tell me: In order to have the same name appear on each page, in the same place what do I do? Right now I have three pages and all of them are Master1. I understand I can change something in the Inspector and not in brackets. I looked in there.
The homepage has Title : homepage
File: index html
Master: Master1
style sheet: sheet1
window checked is :Use Master Content
The second page (exactly the one on which I would like the name from the first page show exactly in the same spot)
Title: paintings
File : paintings.html
Master: Master1 (I tried to change it but this is the only option showing, there is no way to put anythig else in there as far as I can see.Besides I don’t know what to change it into…)
style sheet: sheet1
window checked :Use Master Content
The third page looks just like the second but has a different title and file (same title and file with file having .html )
OK - so it is the content of an html box on each page (based on the same Master) that you want to change?
On the Master page you set up the html container and insert dummy text and style it
On each page that you create from that Master the dummy text will appear styled the same as on the Master.
All you do on each ‘child’ page is click inside the html container and change the dummy text from what was on the Master to what is appropriate for that child page. Automatically the setting in the Inspector for that html item will change from Use Master Content (checked) to unchecked.

Thank you David.
I do not have the same thing on every page. This is the reason I am asking for help, to HAVE it, I don’t want to change it, I want it to appear same as on the first page, the same on the third, fourth ect. I do not know HOW to have the same thing show on each page.
You wrote: “On each page that you create from that Master the dummy text will appear styled the same as on the Master”. HOW DO I CREATE EACH PAGE FROM THAT MASTER? When I create new pages I click on Menu>Page>New Pages. That opens a box which shows: Title : Untitled Pages 1 Master: Master 1 I can change the title and the number of pages. I cannot change the Master1 in the options for Mater. This is the only option. This is how I have been creating all of my pages. I have no problem with creating an html container and writing in it and styling it. I have a problem with having the same thing appear on each page once I have it done on the Master. Maybe there is somehting I am missing, a step I don’t know about?
Maybe you can tell me step by step from the beginning of creating a page (and pages which will follow and have the same header) to the point of making the box, writing in it and styling it. Thank you so much.

If you cannot change it then maybe you only have 1 Master page

I am sure there is a Softpress Tutorial on using Master pages - it is not something that I would have time to do for you.

Yes I do have one Master page. I do have one Master page on the whole website. I never needed another one. I built 4 websites with Freeway Express, but never used headers and footers. I did not realize creating Master page is such a complex process, all I was doing was clicking on Menu>Page>New Pages, the page would show up, I ‘d format it to my needs and start working on it. Before asking the Forum I checked online for any info about headers and footers in FW Pro, but I did not find anything. But searching now I found how to create Master pages in a tutorial on Freeway 4. It looks like I did not even know what a Master page is. Thank you David.

Creating master pages is the easiest thing ever. Just create your default page on your master (including your nav, header and footer), derive your pages from that master and change the content where needed, that’s all.
