[Pro] how to insert after table

Hi,

Can sombody direct my to a solution.

I made a page in FW Pro, started with a html box with text.
below that a table… then I want below the table go futher with a graphic or another table or a HTML box…
But whatever I try, i don’t have luck, sometimes it appears far below the table, sometimes beside the table or within the table.
How can I go on below the last table…?
Found no example in the manuals…
I know a little bit Quark and inDesign, but this is quit different???

How are you constructing your page CSS Layout or Table Layout (CSS button selected or not)

It may be that you have a mix of items - CSS positioned items (layered) have a green border while table based ones have a blue border.

It will help if you stick to one or another (certainly in the early stages).

With an item selected you can see whether its layer checkbox is ticked if you look in the Item Inspector - 1st Tab - Item general Settings.

If you change from CSS Layout to Table layout (or vice versa) it will only affect items created from that time on.

You are right there where mixed blue and green borders, I changed all the blue borders to “layer”, now they are all green borders.
I now can insert a html box below the table, but when I look in Safari the text in the html box appears in the table (not below), in Opera perfect, in Firefox it is almost in the right place… (few lines to high, but below the table and not in the tabel as in Safari)
Is it better not to use tables on a website???

but when I look in Safari the text in the html box appears in the table (not below),

Probably on top rather than inside.

If you have all your items as Layered then they can overlap.

Try using the RPL action to stop this.

Alternatively make them all us unlayered (table based)

Can you post a link to your test page.

David,

You solved this problem also with your last answer.

But there is a new one:
on the design layout there is a HTML item with text in it, direct below that the table, when I do a preview in a browser then there is lot of white space between the text and the table…What do I wrong here???

It is not possible to post a link, because there is no website yet.

Are you using layered items - or not?

If layers then the one above the Table should have its height attribute deselected in the inspector. Click once on the height icon and the top and bottom middle grab handles of the HTML container will turn red and the container should shrink in height and you should be able to bring it very close to the Table below.

But this all depends on your page construction and if all items are layers and if you are using the RPL action.

All the items have a green border and the CSS button is lightgrey and has the text “Tabel Layout”.
The height attribute is deselected and the top and bottom middle grab handles of the HTML container are red.
On the layout page the table is 0,5 mm from the HTML item above.
In the browser still large white area between.
I don’t have the RPL action.
When I change the layers to off, the large gap is gone!!!
I thought it was the best the work in layers (faster website?) but for this page -with HTML item and table below it- it is better not to use it???
(is my problem a bug in this software)

David, you make this forum a fantastic forum!!!
