[Pro] html text spacing

I am new to making websites. Is there any way to have a block of html text that does not have the double space between paragraphs [returns]? I don’t want to go to graphic text because I want it to be readable by Google.
Any ideas?

HI Grassman
All you need to do is hold the shift key down when you hit return. This will create a line break and not a new paragraph.

If you need to adjust the leading and want more control over text then you will need to edit the style you have assigned to the text via edit style… so

  1. click on edit style in the top menu.

  2. Then once the window pops up, click on the style you have used on your text in the left panel.

  3. If you don’t know what style has been used then prior to clicking on Edit Styles look at the inspector palette, then click on the T which is the third button across the top, you should now see which style is associated with this text. From here you could use the keyboard command of cmd clicking on the style name and it will launch the specific style directly or if you prefer you can use edit style from the top menu and then find the style in the popup window style list.

  4. Either adjust the leading in the right panel, or add that if its not there. You can add the leading attribute via the little + icon, choose Leading from the drop-down and then adjust the amount. (you don’t need to use percentages if you don’t want to you can use pixels).

  5. If you wish you can also add: space before and space after in here as well which gives you control over the amount the full paragraphs space will use.

As you can see from all the areas within this panel you have quite a lot of control over the final typography and you should not have to resort to images if you don’t want to.

All the best Max

Hi,

I want to be able to adjust (increase) the Leading of HTML text so that it shows up when I Preview, publish, or view in any browser. I’m using Freeway Pro 6.

I have set up an number of Permanent Text Styles with the Leading that I’d like to see (120%). When I apply these Styles to text the Leading is reflected in Page view but not when I Preview or view in different browsers.

However, if I set the text to show as a GIF image I can see the Leading in Preview, when I publish, or view in different browsers.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Roy
