[Pro] HTML vs. GIF text confusion

Hi gang,
Okay - I understand that it’s generally better to use HTML text over GIF unless I have specific styling needs and/or am not concerned about my text being searchable by search engines.

Question 1:

With that in mind: I draw an HTML box. I type in the HTML box. I then highlight that text within the HTML box and the Inspector allows me to choose the Character Type (HTML or GIF). I choose GIF, have more styling options, and pick a groovy font. I click away from the box, select the box again and the Inspector tells me the box is an HTML item (even though the text within in it is GIF).

So…is the text HTML, or GIF?

And Question 2:

I draw an HTML box. I type in the HTML box. I then highlight that text within the HTML box and the Inspector allows me to choose the Character Type (HTML or GIF). I choose HTML. Then under font, I don’t like any of the HTML fonts available, so I choose ‘New’ and add the groovy font I want to my HTML font list, and apply that font to the text at hand.

So…is the text HTML or GIF?

Thank you! This forum is amazing.

First Gif text in an Html container.

2nd is Html text but without using an action like the Web Fonts action only visitors who have that particular font installed in their system will see it correctly.

It will default to their standard browser font or the alternate font you have specified.

Thanks David,

Would you recommend Web Fonts or Caxton?

I tend to add the info via Markup and not use an action but Caxton is pretty straightforward to use.
