[Pro] I must be going mad, but....

OK, stupidly simple question here but driving me mad:

I’m trying to edit some text in a table cell. The table is pasted inline into a text box with the ScriptyAccordion action applied. I’ve come to edit the text today in FW7 and double clicking the cell no longer lets me at the text inside to edit it. If I select the table and paste it outside its text container I can edit it fine, but I’m sure before FW7 I used to simply double click it.

I know I’ve just hit 40 but please reassure me I’m not losing it. Didn’t we used to just double click the cell to edit the text, even if the table was pasted inline? I can recall, however, it was always a bit of a pain to select a table directly once used inline so maybe Softpress changed something?

I can remove the table, edit it and paste it back but that seems crazy?

You’re right, that’s how it did (and should) work. You’re not crazy, just 40. File a bug with support(a)softpress.com because it should Just Work™.

As a temporary work-around, what happens if you click once on the table cell, so it highlights in blue around the cell itself, and then press the Return button? That works in other contexts, but I don’t have Freeway in front of me at the moment.

Hi Walt,

Thank God the grey matter is still working. I’ll file a bug report.

I can’t try your workaround as I can’t select a cell, only the table as a whole now. I’ve got around it by removing the table from its container, making the amend then pasting it back in. Pain in the butt…

I just tried to duplicate this here, and cannot. What version of Freeway do you have (exactly)?

Hi Walt,

I’m using 7.0.1. Below is a link to one of the pages used in the site that’s troublesome.

I guess its most likely the way I’ve constructed it, since this site started life in FW5 many years ago.

Downloaded it and can confirm it takes a workaround to edit inline-placed table-content. I have 2 working options (but as Walter said, it just should work in the first place):

  • Select the table, cut and paste it anywhere on the page, and the cells are editable

  • Hover the cursor on the left edge of the table (you will see turn it into an arrow) and click to select the whole row. Use the arrow keys to navigate between cells en hit [enter] to edit text.

At least you can do something, but this should be fixed.

Hi Richard,

At least you’ve both confirmed I’m not losing it

I didn’t think of the second workaround, thank you.
